Buddhist - Theravada
The Main House The International Meditation Centre, founded by the Sayagyi U Ba Khin Memorial Trust, provides instruction and practice in Theravada Anapana and Buddhist Vipassana meditation. Ten day residential courses are held each month and are based on the practice of the Eightfold Noble Path which is divided into three parts: morality, concentration and wisdom. The courses are guided by Mother Sayamagyi, who has practised and taught meditation for more than fifty years. During the course, the emphasis is on investigating the truth through practice rather than theory. Noble Silence (no unnecessary talk) provides a conducive atmosphere, and discourses in the morning and evening help to clarify the practice. There are also daily interviews with the teacher where each student is given personal guidance.
Meditation Hall Students who attend courses are from all walks of life, religions and cultural backgrounds. Anyone who comes with an open mind can grasp the technique and benefit accordingly.
The Courtyard Splatts House is an attractive red brick building situated in a quiet and peaceful country setting. The beautiful Light of the Dhamma Pagoda is the focal point of the meditation centre.
The Paddocks The daily timetable begins at 4:30am and goes through to 9pm and involves meditation sessions as well as rest periods and meals. Open: All year for scheduled 10-day retreats & weekends. |
