Anglican - Ecumenical This is a huge redbrick house built by Thomas Cromwell in 1540 on the site of an early Augustinian priory. It retains today the old-fashioned comfort and charm of a distinguished private country-mansion with a cheerful drawing room fire, a paneled dining room and games room. A beautiful chapel, still intact from the 15th century, is the jewel of Launde Abbey. You might be given a room in either the house, a small annex or in the refurbished Georgian stable-block, which overlooks a large pond. All this is set in 350 acresof parkland. Everyone is welcome here. Open: All year. Receives men, women, young people, families, groups and non-retreatants, which includes charities, cultural and educational groups for conferences.
